Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats to Sing on 'The Late Show With Stephen Colbert'

Stephen Colbert is about to feature yet another great band on his CBS show, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. Rateliff's roots sink deep into folk music, but he has remastered his sound and now, with The Night Sweats at his side, he is rocking it with a silky-smooth bit of R&B Soul. One has to wonder if their new hit single, "S.O.B." didn't sound like a personal shout out to sarcastic funny man Colbert.  Perhaps Colbert will even sing along.

The band must really like the show because sources say, "On November 9, Rateliff and co. will perform on CBS's The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The show is shoehorned into what's already a busy stretch for the Denver-born soul/R&B band, who've just come off a six-week tour in Europe and are launching into a 22-date U.S. leg that will take them through the end of the year."

With such a busy schedule thrown out ahead of them, Rateliff and his gang will probably feel the love from Colbert as he will surely be honored by his appearance. If we get extra lucky, Colbert may even crash the set and sing along. It is always a treat when he does.

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats' new self-titled album has been getting some heavy praise. Rolling Stone's rave review speaks highly Rateliff, specifically pointing out how his "transforming himself from folk troubadour to funky soul bandleader - is a revelation. Rateliff comes on like Van Morrison fronting Booker T. & the MG's, reviving the glory days of his label, Stax." They then go on to say, "Even so, Rateliff hasn't completely forgotten his folkie past: The wistful "Wasting Time" shows that he can still kill you softly."

Their six week European tour was sold out and it does not look like it is going to be much different here in the states. On the night of November 2nd, "The band performed before a capacity crowd at The Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, which was broadcast in its entirety by SiriusXM's "The Spectrum." They will play another sold-out show at New York City's Bowery Ballroom [tonight], Wednesday, November 4."

They are obviously doing well for themselves, but if there are any doubts, all you have to do is turn your attention to the Billboard where S.O.B. "opened atop the September 12 Folk Albums chart and has spent two weeks at No. 1 to date."
