Deepika Padukone Agreed to be in 'Tamasha' Before Script Was Done

Deepika Padukone has been known to be ultra-courageous, but she took that one step further when she agreed to be in Imtiaz Ali's newest film, Tamasha, without even seeing a script. Ms. Padukone jumped at the chance to work with Ali again, who is well-respected in his field.  They had worked together in the 2009 film, Love Aaj Kal. Deepika appeared opposite Saif Ali Khan.

The added allure for Deepika also was a chance to work with Ranbir Kapoor. Despite a very public break-up, both have a magical chemistry when put together that transcends personal grievances and it is Ali's camera, as intuitive as it is, that picks up that added layer. Says Ali, via the Indian Express "It was really good. It's actually a learning experience for me when you work with good actors. I've worked with Ranbir and Deepika before. And for each scene, the way in which I envisioned the scene, it always turned out to be different than that. And it's different because of their talents. I'm convinced about the fact that I've never worked with actors as good as them."

Putting together three willing people for a common goal apparently bonded these three well. Already familiar with each other, they were able to dig for more. In the process, Ranbir Kapoor was to admit in an interview, "I learnt a lot working with Deepika. We did our second film together, Bachna Ae Haseeno, and then we did Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, which was a big hit. To see her grow as an actor and to this extent, was really heart-warming, encouraging and really inspiring for me."

Kapoor went into the project with his own set of demons, namely three successive flops. Hounded by questions and doubts, seeing an ever-defiant Deepika go about her business gave him a sense of renewal and, his fans hope, a better sense of purpose. Ranbir, one more time, ""For me, Tamasha is very special, to come with this team together. And I really hope that the people give the film a chance in the theatres and they enjoy the film."
