‘Star Wars’ George Lucas Defends Greedo Shot First Edit to Make Han Solo Look Good

There are a few things in life we know for certain. You're born naked, you anything with you when you die and Han shot first. That is right. No matter what George Lucas has to say on the issue. The Star Wars visionary recently came out to defend his edit of the scene having Greedo Shot first in order make Han Solo look more like a good guy. But what does he know.

Recently, George Lucas spoke to The Washington Post, about the decision to edit the now infamous Han and Greedo scene (via Entertainment Weekly):

“Han Solo was going to marry Leia, and you look back and say, ‘Should he be a cold-blooded killer? Because I was thinking mythologically --should he be a cowboy, should he be John Wayne? And I said, ‘Yeah, he should be John Wayne.’ And when you’re John Wayne, you don’t shoot people [first] -- you let them have the first shot. It’s a mythological reality that we hope our society pays attention to.”

Speaking of mythlogically, J.J. Abrams is going back to the orignial for very important element. Recenlty,Star Wars themed issue of Empire Magazine, The Force Awakens’ Abrams opened up about Episode 7 lightsaber duels and how they were inspired by the original trilogy (via ScreenRant):

“When you look at Star Wars and Empire, they are very different lightsaber battles, but for me they felt more powerful because they were not quite as slick. I was hoping to go for something much more primitive, aggressive and rougher, a throwback to the kind of heart-stopping lightsaber fights I remembered being so enthralled by as a kid.”

What do you think? Did Han shoot first? Do you agree with Lucas? What is your favorite lightsaber battle in the franchise? Who is your favorite character in the Star Wars universe.
