Bollywood Life is reporting that Tamasha star Deepika Padukone has signed on to star opposite Vin Diesel in the next installment of his XXX franchise (learn about the film courtesy of Wikipedia). Deepika had already been toying with going west . She turned down Diesel's first offer to appear in the latest entry of Diesel's other franchise Fast & Furious 7 but now it looks like Vin has got Dippy signed and sealed.
With the success of fellow Bollywood alum Priyanka Chopra on the ABC show Quantico, you had to figure the Big H would come actress shopping at the Big B sooner or later. Deepika, for her part, has expressed every intention of heading to Hollywood. According to the Hindustan Times, "Though Diesel, 48, has left the fans guessing by keeping the picture caption-less, Deepika's Piku co-star Irrfan Khan confirmed the news by congratulating the actress. "A big congratulations to our favourite #Piku for her smashing #Hollywooddebut with #Vindiesel @DeepikaPadukone, he posted on Facebook."
Deepika's fans appear a little anxious about the move, however. After her brillant turn opposite Ranbir Kapoor in the hit Bollywood film Tamasha, appearing in the XXX sequel could be construed as a step down in quality even though it will be a boon for her profile. Bollywood Life puts it this way, "The optimists and her fans, of course, will already have thumped their chest and proudly declare 'Jai Ho!', while the cynics among us would snicker and say 'Toh kya? She will just be an eye-candy!' Well, better be eye-candy in a Vin Diesel movie and bowl over international audiences, than be just eye-candy in Prabhu Dheva films, and get whistles from UP and Bihar."
Heads up, America. Deepika Padukone is coming and no doubt there will be a bundle of internet searches asking, "Who was that hot chick in Vin Diesel's new film?"
