Despite their seeming the absolute picture of happiness, word has it that Mariah Carey and James Packer are starting to feud over the diva reported constant mixing of prescription pills and alcohol. According to the latest gossip news updates, Nick Cannon's not-quite ex-wife recently threw a glass of champagne at the billionaire boyfriend after he made the mistake of sectioning that she sobers up before it's too late. Word has it that the Aussie is committed to getting "All I Want for Christmas Is You" singer into rehab, but Carey's violent objections could cause him to split before he gets the job done.
For years Mariah Carey's drinking has been the subject of tabloid rumor, and it seems that once again the diva's supposed substance abuse is said to be terrifying those closest to her.
One source in the latest December 28, issue of In Touch claims that things even got a bit violent when Carey's new boyfriend James Packer tried to broach the subject of getting some professional assistance in getting clean:
"She though James was trying to tell her what to do...She got so angry that she threw her glass in his direction and screamed, 'no one f*cking controls me. I do want I want!'
"He's trying to get her through the holidays, then he wants to get her help. But she doesn't think she has a problem and pushes back all the time."
According to the well informed insider, Mariah hasn't been herself around James for quite some time due to her penchant for mixing alcohol with her meds:
"She goes through two bottles a wine herself and drinks and sleeps some days when she she's not working. She's taking Ativan for anxiety and Depakote for migraines.
"Mixing those drugs with booze in very dangerous."
If there really is a rift starting to form over her habitual partying, you sure couldn't tell it from how happy they looked in the recent vacation photos Mariah posted to Instagram (via People):
"Ready for the snow."
