Aaron Rodgers Wants the Green Bay Packers to Re-Sign WR James Jones in NFL Free Agency

Aaron Rodgers made it very clear in a recent interview that he wants the Green Bay Packers to re-sign wide receiver James Jones in NFL free agency this coming offseason.

Jordy Nelson went down with a season-ending torn ACL in preseason action, which made the Packers need another wide receiver. One of the free agents available was Jones, who was familiar with the Green Bay offense. He also had a good relationship with Rodgers, which helped his cause.

During a recent interview, Rodgers talked about how he wants the Packers to bring Jones back.

"Yeah, for sure," Rodgers said. "He's been through some injuries this year, and done a great job for us. He had a fast start, and then was dealing with some issues and pushed through them. He's the kind of guy who practices all the time, competes really hard. He's a big contributor for us. A pro's pro. He's been a great addition to our locker room and I'd love to see him return."

After seeing the way that Davante Adams has struggled in his second season, there is a very good chance that the Packers will bring Jones back. Ty Montgomery showed some signs, as has Jared Abbrederis, but Jones is still better than both of them.

Throughout the course of the 2015 NFL season, Jones has caught 46 passes for 788 yards and eight touchdowns.

Those numbers show why Rodgers would want to bring him back. If he had not had a few weeks of struggling, Jones would be over 1,000 yards and like close to 10 touchdowns on the year.

Green Bay normally does what Rodgers wants and it wouldn't be shocking to see Jones back with the Packers next season. Adding him alongside of a healthy Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb would be a dangerous trio of targets. Nelson being back alone will be huge for Rodgers and the Packers.

Expect to see other teams show interest in signing Jones, but if the Packers offer him a deal he will likely accept and return to Green Bay for another season.
