Is America Growing Tired of the Kardashians? New Data Shows Disturbing Trend

The Kardashians and Jenners have long reigned in the forefront of pop culture, even being referred to as America's First Family. With the quickly shifting tides of popularity, one wonders when America will start growing tired of all the drama, and new data shows a disturbing trend regarding the family.

While the Kardashians appear to remain as popular as ever, with Instagram, Twitter and other social media platforms focusing on them incessantly, the first harbingers of doom have appeared. According to WWD, "despite their popularity, the Kardashians haven't exactly been able to translate their enigmatic brand into newsstand gold for magazines."

Sales are down across the board when it comes to magazines featuring one or more Kardashians on the cover. In fact, when WWD tracked sales data from the Alliance of Audited Media, they "found that many magazines saw a decline in copies sold when they featured the family members." The one notable exception is Rolling Stone, which got a noticeable boost from featuring Khloe Kardashian in an unbuttoned shirt. Sex sells, after all.

Which is more than a little surprising considering how much publicity the Kardashians/Jenners have acquired in 2015. As Uproxx put it, "Bruce Jenner became Caitlyn Jenner, Kendall became a one-name supermodel, Kim Kardashian got pregnant, Khloe shed her "the ugly sister" label, Kourtney dumped Scott, and Kylie completely morphed into Little Kim."

So what's causing this new data trend?

Arguably, the most prominent cause is boredom. Americans like fresh, new and improved entertainment, and when a family has been at the top for so long, it isn't a surprise when pop culture shifts its focus from one group to another. The drama isn't new, the characters aren't fresh, and nothing really has improved even in the family's shift into social media. While there may be a fresh scandal every day or two, eventually having the same characters in the drama gets stale.

It will be interesting to see how long the Kardashians/Jenners, America's First Family, stay on top.

So what do you think about the new data trend? Are the Kardashians doomed? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below!
