Austrian Cultural Forum New York Welcomes JACK, Merlin and Talea Ensembles in February

Mark your calendars. This February, the New York Austrian Cultural Forum is welcoming the Merlin Ensemble, JACK Quartet and Talea Ensemble. Best of all, these amazing events are free of charge, with advanced reservations.

The Austrian Cultural Forum New York serves the main cultural embassy of the Republic of Austria in New York and the United States. Under the direction of Christine Moser, the ACFNY seeks to bring some of Austria’s greatest artistic talent to new fans in the USA.

A press releases offers all the dates and details for the upcoming February events.

February 2: Merlin Ensemble Wien's program Mendelssohn's Italian Journey includes works by Till Körber, Zemlinsky and Mendelssohn

February 24: JACK Quartet performs the mindblowing Quartet No. 3 by Georg Friedrich Haas, in complete darkness

February 26: Talea Ensemble performs an all-Haas program featuring the U.S. premiere of I can't breathe (in memoriam Eric Garner)

JACK’s journey has taken them on a coast to coast ride across America.

L.A. Times critic Mark Swed once noted the band's hypnotising effect, writing:

"The music coupled with the darkness has this incredible ability to make you completely lose track of time. We don't even realize how much time has gone by."

The sentiment was echoed by when JACK violinist Ari Streisfeld spoke with the New Yorker's Alex Ross (the music critic, not the comic book artist):

"We don't even realize how much time has gone by."

Admission to all events is free, but you must make reservations. For reservations and addition information, please visit https://www.acfny.org/events/.
