When you think of Wayne Brady you don’t tend to think about depression. The Whose Line regular and Let’s Make a Deal host often appears to be happy go lucky. So much so that the Chappelle Show featured a sketch portraying Brady against type as a gun toting ruthless psychopath. However, the Kinky Boots star does have a bit of a dark side. Recently Brady opened up about his strugle with depression and anger.
Late last year Brady spoke with Entertainment Tonight about his struggle with depression, saying:
“I just did my thousand and first show of Let's Make a Deal but then I would turn into this thing of where...I'm doing Let's Make a Deal when I could be doing a sitcom... And these people are always stopping me on the street,’Hey,Let's Make A Deal.’ “That’s not my name, that’s a game show.’...Its like “Why are you always so angry.’... People are like, 'Wayne Brady's always happy!. No I'm not. Because I'm human.”
Brady went on to talk about the debilitating effects had on his day to day life, adding:
“Having a bad day is one thing, having a bad week is another, having a bad life … You don't want to move, you can't move in the darkness. You're like, 'I am just going to sit right here and I want to wallow in this. As much as it hurts, I am going to sit right here because this is what I deserve. This is what I deserve, so I am going to sit here because I am that horrible of a person.'"
