Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber have always admitted that they still care for each other but the "Same Old Love" singer revealed that a possible Jelena reunion is never going to happen. So when she was caught liking Bieber's picturess and videos on social media, many have wondered if there's still a chance for the former couple to rekindle their romance.
The 23-year-old singer and actress liked a throwback post on Instagram by a user named justinandselenaaa on Thursday, Feb. 25. The short clip was of Gomez and Bieber with Simon Cowell. The couple were all smiles and the Biebs can be heard saying that he'll "look after" his then girlfriend.
Although it was a sweet gesture that Selena is keeping tabs on Justin, that doesn't mean that she is ready to be in a romantic relationship with him again.
“Selena isn’t very interested in getting back together with Justin, but she always wants to keep him near so to speak and have her in his mind always,” the source revealed to HollywoodLife exclusively. “That is why she likes statuses or pictures of him.”
So it turns out that friendship is the only thing that she can offer to the 21-year-old "Love Yourself" singer. Although their fans' hearts are probably permanently broken after realizing that these two will never be together again as a couple, friendship is definitely better than no relationship at all.
Gomez previously shared to W magazine that she still cares for Bieber but she doesn't want to deal with the drama anymore.
“I’m so exhausted,” she told the magazine. “I honestly am so done. I care about his health and well-being. But I can’t do it anymore.”
