‘American Psycho the Musical’ Opening Night Delayed After ‘Nerds’ Cancellation

The good news is American Psycho the Musical is almost here. The bad news is the opening has been pushed back, but only for one day. The press opening for the new musical, based on Bret Easton Ellis’ hit novel turned film, will now be on April 21 after Nerds, A Musical Dot Comedy cancelled its opening which was scheduled for the same day.

Nerds, the musical story of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs reportedly had to cancel its opening due to the loss of a major investor. Nerds producer Carl Levin released a statement to the press about the cancellation, saying (via Broadway.com):

“We are grateful to the one-of-a-kind creative team and cast of this incredibly funny and heartwarming musical that audiences have so enthusiastically adored thus far. We look forward to Nerds taking the country by storm."

The current Broadway cast for American Psycho the Musical includes:

Alice Ripley as Patrick’s Mother/Mrs. Wolfe.
Heléne Yorke as Evelyn Williams, Patrick’s girlfriend

American Psycho begins previews on March 24, 2016 with the Original London Cast recording being released on March 25.

The officially opening date is now set for April 21, 2016.
