‘Waitress’ Sara Bareilles Performs “Brave” at White House for Justin Trudeau & President Obama

It is current year, and that esoteric reference can only mean one thing. Justin Trudeau is back in the news. The uber left leaning Canadian Prime Minister recently joined President Obama at the White House. However, the real star of the evening was Sara Bareilles. The Waitress songwriter performed her hit song “Brave” for the two Heads of State. Bareilles wasn’t alone. She was joined by Children of the Gospel Choir who shared her standing ovation.

“So happy to be on my way to @WhiteHouse to welcome @JustinTrudeau with my best mid-tempo ballads and as many jokes as I can muster.”

Some of Sara Bareilles’ work will soon be making it to Broadway. Bareilles wrote the music for the Waitress the musical. Recently, Bareillesspoke with Billboard where she discussed the new musical and her life long love afair with musical theater:

“I’m living out my dreams. My sister and mom were both in theater, and it was this whole discovery for me to see the community of cast and crew. I was in Little Shop of Horrors -- I played Audrey and a street urchin -- and Charlotte’s Web as a kid. Soundtracks like Miss Saigon and Oklahoma! were my introduction to being a listener.”

Waitress begins into previews on March 25, 2016 and officially opens on April 24, 2016 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on 256 W. 47th St.

Waitress the musical features music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles and a book by Jesie Nelson. The original production is under the direction of Diane Paulus and stars Jessie Mueller, Dakin Matthews, Kimiko Glenn, Nick Cordero and Christopher Fitzgerald.
