CW Early 2017 Renewals Include Rachel Bloom’s Musical Comedy ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’

The CW has found a recipe for success. The network has just granted an early renewal to 11 shows. Among the 11 is the new musical comedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. The series stars and was co-created by Rachel Bloom. The series also stars Santino Fontana (Billy Elliot the Musical, Sunday in the Park with George). Check out the report below for a look at what you can expect from The CW in the 2016-17 TV season.

CW President Mark Pedowitz announced the network’s early renewals, saying (via Hollywood Reporter):

"The CW has become home to some of the most critically acclaimed shows on broadcast television, with a wide array of fantastic scripted series across the week, ranging from musical comedy, to superhero action, to gritty sci-fi dramas. As we continue to further our strategy of more year-round original programming, picking up these 11 series for the 2016-2017 season puts us in a great position of having proven, high-quality shows to launch in the fall as well as midseason and summer of 2017."

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is not the only CW series to be picked up. Among the early renewals have been the network's entire lineup of DC Comics series:

Arrow (Season 5)

 Reign (Season 4),
