Though British singer Sinitta feigned betrayal at the news that her ex Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman were having a baby, the 45-year-old has announced that she has been named little Eric's godmother. Now, the world is only waiting for the couple to get engaged and settle down, like normal people do.
Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman's baby news hit his ex, singer Sinitta, like a punch to the stomach, but that's all behind her now.
Sinitta told Hello that she almost couldn't believe the news that Simon was actually going to have a baby with Lauren, when she first heard it (via Daily Mail):
"I was completely and utterly stunned. I was in such a daze, to the point where I wondered if I was dreaming it.
"We knew we were all close friends but I didn't realize he and Lauren were falling in love and, when I found out, I will admit I was taken aback and did feel a sense of betrayal."
During the difficult time that followed for Sinitta she even brought up the heartbreaking and life-changing abortion that went through with Si in the late 80's.
But now the baby is born, Sinitta feels like Eric has brought the old Simon back to life, she told OK! earlier this month (via Daily Mail):
"He seems like the Simon I used to know before the super-famous and super-rich Simon he is now.
"He was a big softy and a very affectionate, sweet, family-orientated man. I don't feel like I really lost him to fame and success, but he's started to be seen as a caricature and now Eric's brought a softer side of Simon back."
Perhaps it was her change of heart that brought on Cowell's decision to name his old flame godmother to his baby boy, but it might have been the other way around.
Regardless of which came first, Sinitta officially broke the news via Twitter, posting a photo of baby Eric cradled in her arms:
"At Mothers Day lunch with Mom, Magdalena, Zac, @JasonJGale @SimonCowell I was asked to be godmother to Baby Eric!!! X"
Sounds like little Eric is lucky to just be alive.
