Sandra Oh, who plays Christina Yang, announced she would be leaving ABC's hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy following the Season 10 finale. Shonda Rimes announced via Twitter her unwillingness to come to terms Tuesday, with the reality of Sandra getting her final script. Oh's on-screen lover Kevin McKidd, perhaps better known as Own Hunt, joined in on the lament. It still remains to be seen if Alex's character, played by Justin Chamber, will be quitting Grey Sloan for a more lucrative opportunity.
If anyone on the cast and crew of ABC's Grey's Anatomy is happy to see series vet Sandra Oh go, they are no doubt keeping it to themselves, as showrunner Shonda Rimes publicly mourns Oh's impending departure.
Upon noting that she was set to attend Sandra Oh's final table read the following morning, Shonda Rimes tweeted that she would rather stay in bed, the acknowledge the finality:
"Not willing to face that @IamSandraOh will have her last #greysanatomy table read tomorrow. #10seasons"
To which Sandra's on-screen love interest for the past umpteenth years, Kevin McKidd, who once faced down the hordes of Gaul, solemnly responded:
"Me too... not able."
It is still anybody's guess if Alex Karev will be staying at Grey Sloan or not, but Justin Chambers, who plays Karev, told TV Guide that it might be an offer that's too good to for Alex to pass up:
"This is somebody who Alex [is] taken by what's going on with his life.
"This guy is still young. He's got cars, a nice office and a good job. What he does is easy. He could do it blindfolded.
"Alex thinks, 'Wow, maybe I could do this. I still have all these loans. I'm broke. Maybe I need to start possibly thinking of joining a private practice.'
"He's starting to see that he could maybe profit a little more than he has and also still be able to do charitable and humanitarian things that he's been doing as a doctor."
Yeah, right...Shonda Rimes will break down before she loses another original cast member to Season 10.
