There appears to be a potential scandal brewing on Broadway or, at the very least, a lot of questions have been asked since the surprise March 8th postponement slash cancellation of the planned musical about the rivalry between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. It turns out that the musical comedy Nerds may have left town in the middle of the night without leaving its creditors a forwarding address.

Katherine Jenkins has been in a mommy mood. Last September, the Welsh singer gave birth to her first child, a girl named Aaliyah Reign. It is understandable that the singer, who was once offered the most lucrative contract in British classical music while hardly into her 20's, , has said she can't stand to be away from her newborn child. When you are a singer as well known as Katherine Jenkins, you eventually get back in shape and return to your public. Festivities for the Queen's 90th birthday are what is drawing Katherine back to public performing.

Most film stars whose career are on an upward trajectory usually don't take the time to make their debut on Broadway, but that is exactly what Lupita Nyong'o has done. She has debuted on the big stage with a role in Eclipsed, which she calls 'terrifying'. it is only two years since Lupita won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 12 Years a Slave. She also had a role in the mega-hit, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but was keen to stretch her acting muscles a bit, deciding on a 10-week run at Off Broadway Theater, then committing to the Broadway run. Eclipsed is a drama by Danai Gurira of The Walking Dead fame.
This week the musical Wicked achieved a milestone of monumentous proportions for a production on Broadway. It passed the billion dollar mark in box office sales. Previous to this accompliishment, only two other musicals had reached the billion dollar milestone and they are names for the ages, The Lion King and The Phantom of the Opera. As if earning this much money wasn't enough, Wicked earned another distinction by being the fastest production to eclipse the billion dollar mark, achieving that goal in only 13 years and 5000 performances.
The Broadway musical, Hamilton, may have saved Hamilton the man. At least, it may have saved Hamilton's place on the ten-dollar bill. There was a movement afoot to redesign the ten-dollar bill and honor an American woman. That would have removed a key founding father, who was had a major hand in creating many of the important govenmental institutions, from the bill.
Just when you thought Hollywood couldn't possibly remake anything else, they have a Death Wish remake to foist upon audiences. It seems a very strange film to remake, because it's such a creature of the 70's. The iconic 1974 film, which had many sequels, virtually kicked off the revenge action film. Its plot concerns a man who comes home to find his wife murdered and his daughter raped. And then he kills everyone involved. Charles Bronson's stoic face was perfect for the role and it made him a huge star at the time.
The end comes for every television show no matter how popular it was. If it has franchise potential, then spin-off talk begins. ABC's Castle has been running for eight years and been very popular in its time, but the end or, at the very least, a serious revamping seems to be in order. Stars Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic are out of contract and it seems to be up in the air if either return to the long running show. When a show grows a little long in the tooth, as Castle has, there is always a desire from the head brass to trim the budget . All of this has led to speculation about a possible spin-off. ABC has admitted this is something they've looked into, in case the show's stars don't return.
It seems a bit of a ironic question to ask, since Bollywood is the worlds largest producer of films, but more and more Bollywood actors and actresses are leaving Bollywood for Hollywood projects. Already, there are major Bollywood stars, such as Priyanka Chopra, in Hollywood. The woman who is arguably the current queen of Bollywood, Deepika Padukone, is shooting the xXx sequel with Vin Diesel and rumours are hot on the internet right now that she may be signing on to make a film with Brad Pitt. If this happens it will get a lot of press in India.
I guess the Nerds will have to wait before they are seen on Broadway. On March 8th, it was confirmed that the planned Broadway debut of the musical comedy; Nerds A Musical Dot Comedy which was supposed to debut this spring will be delayed because the musical has lost a major investor. Nerds tells the story of the rise of the two icons of nerd kingdom Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. The show was set to open April 21 at the Longacre Theater and be directed by Casey Hushion.
Until recently, North America remained about the only spot on the globe where Priyanka Chopra wasn't well-known. Then, the Oscars happened. Google released a list of the most searched at the Oscars. Priyanka, who had been given the honor of presenting at the ceremony, came in second in searches. She only ranked behind Leonardo Di Caprio, who won the Best Actor Award, which will no doubt be a noted entertainment event for this year. It seems with her television show, Quantico, and now the part in the upcoming Baywatch movie, that Hollywood has really taken a shine to the Bollywood queen.

Girls actress, Lena Dunham, has made news in recent days for seeing a picture of herself on the cover of a Spanish magazine called Tentaciones and finding the photo flattering. She also wondered whose body was on the cover beneath her face. Since she has been an outspoken critic of the practice of Photoshopping pictures, she took to social media to make a few points about the unrealistic female body images that are foisted upon women. This practise has gotten especially bad with digital photography, which is so easily edited anyway you want. Grown-up women and even mature actresses often end up with legs, arms or stomachs that look like they were pulled directly off an underfed 14-year-old model.
