Indienono: Gregg Opelka, Dramatic Publishing Company Earn 'C’est la Vie' Premiere at Duplex Cabaret Theatre

Gregg Opelka’s musical, C’est la Vie, will see its New York premiere at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre this September. C’est la Vie is a celebration of the 1950s Parisian cabaret lifestyle and will feature Jackie Schiffer and Angela Pierson as the main characters. The musical is directed by Andreas Hager, choreographed by Nia Woods and designed by Anna Yates.

Fatiguée Fourbu (Jackie Schiffer) and Dominique Joli (Angela Pierson) have a run-in with the police, bribing them to kidnap the owner of the Chez Leplée cabaret, the dancers and softie
accompanist Jean Paul Pierre (Jeremy Rafal, also musical director).

Produced in collaboration with Dramatic Publishing Company, C’est La Vie was running an Indiegogo page to help with expenses, run by co-producer Schiffer.

Schiffer states, “We are committed to making this wonderful work of life be an outstanding piece of immersive theater in NYC."

The donated funds will be used towards: the rental fee of scores ($400), royalties ($150), costumes ($300), scripts ($50), CD ($30), printed materials such as programs, posters and postcards ($150) and a press kit ($200). Additional expenses have been called on for a dialect CD, props, videography of performance, promotional ads, rehearsal space rental, stipends for production team and actors.

Alas, the Indiegogo begging ended on August 11, having only earned $575 of their $1,000 goal.

All the same, C’est La Vie will run Friday, September 12 at 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, September 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Duplex Cabaret aon 62 Christopher Street.

Tickets are $10 pre-sale, $12 at the door and require a 2-drink minimum (ages 21+, of course).
