Now that Kerry Washington is the star of Shonda Rimes' hit ABC network political drama, Scandal, her mom and dad couldn't be happier. But when Kerry, who had a baby with Nnamdi Asomugha, earlier in the year, first told her parents they envisioned her starving to death on the streets of L.A. According to the latest gossip news updates, actor Columbus Short, who was let go from the TV show at the end of Season 3 sereis following allegations that he tried to murder his wife, is reportedly throwing a Season 4 premiere party tonight in Atlanta. Spoilers: Short claims to still be tight with Shonda, and says he is just looking to promote the show.
At this point in her career, things could not be going better for Scandal lead, Kerry Washington, but her parents weren't always so sure she'd get there.
During a recent interview with USA Today to promote the show, Kerry Admitted that her parents are more than happy to tell their friends what she's doing now, though that may not have always been the case:
"My parents are really happy for me.
"I think they're the kind of parents who are interestingly more proud of the fact that I have an appointed position in the White House than they are of the show, or that I've been able to be experiencing such joy in my personal life.
"Those things matter to them more...But they're grateful I'm not the starving artist they feared I would be."
It's probably safe to say that former costar, Columbus Short, isn't experiencing the same personal and professional highs as Washington, but don't bother telling him that.
In a recent interview with TMZ, Short, who is said to be throwing a party in Atlanta for the premiere of Season 4, claimed that he is happier now that his good friend had to publicly humiliate him:
"I think [Shonda] feels different things [about me]. Maybe I am that bad child that she loves but can't get right maybe...I don't know. I don't know how she feels.
"I talked to her a couple of weeks and...I love Shonda. She emailed me personally, and...it was just an unfortunate thing.
"And I had a great time on Scandal, but I am really excited about what I am doing now in life."
No doubt, Columbus' parents are just as proud of their little boy and all his charges , as Kerry's parents are her many accolades.
