MacArthur Genius' Chris Thile and Edgar Meyer Take to Town Hall on Saturday, October 11

A MacArthur Fellowship winner, Chris Thile of the Punch Brothers will team up with bassist and composer (and fellow MacArthur Genius) Edgar Meyer for a one-off at New York City's Town Hall on Saturday, October 11.

With a program of mostly original music, the duo has collaborated on albums before, including the Grammy-winning Goat Rodeo Session, which was comprised solely of their own tunes.

Most recently, though, they got together on Chris Thile's 2013 solo recording, Bach: Sonatas and Partitas, Vol. 1, which Meyer produced. And now, a new disc of original material will hit shelves soon and will be released via Nonesuch Records.

A much-anticipated performance, Chris Thile has kept himself busy recording and arranging covers on the Inside Llewyn Davis soundtrack with the Punch Brothers and was mentioned by a Classicalite staffer, Louis Burton, in an article at the Chicago Symphony Sounds and Stories website.

The energy and charisma between the two MacArthur genius' is something to note according to Richmond Times-Dispatch. While some expect a certain kind of quality, as Anne Timberlake writes, "what you don't necessarily expect is fun."

Town Hallers will be in for it on October 11 when Thile and Meyer take the stage for a most unprecedented performance. A great space for a great duo, the show should be phenomenal.

Tickets can be found here and their song "Big Top" can be heard below.
