Phoenix Cardinal Superstar and Hall of Fame Honoree Aeneas Williams Helps Assist Ferguson Following Riots

Retired NFL Cornerback Aeneas Williams achieved a lot during his journey to becoming a football superstar. He only played one year of college ball before the Phoenix Cardinals drafted him in 1991. By 1994 he was already topping the charts when he lead the league in interceptions. By 1997, he had four pro-bowl appearances. The very next year, he led the Cardinals to their first playoff game victory since 1947. In 2008, he was inducted into the Cardinals' Ring of Honor. And now, he is showing everyone that he has class on and off the field. Williams was recently spotted cleaning up Ferguson after the shooting riots.

Playing a sport is one thing, but being able to do so in a professional capacity is another. When people look at organizations such as the NFL, they might not be able to see past all the drama, scandals or millions that is coughed over to athletes each year.

It is truly a shame, because when this happens, classy individuals like Aenes Williams go unnoticed. SB Nation recaps why Williams deserves his spot in the Hall oF Fame:

"Williams managed a stellar 55 interceptions and nine touchdowns throughout his long career in the league. He's got eight Pro Bowls to his name and was named a first-team All-Pro four times, with one second-team selection on top of that. He stopped playing in 2004, after three seasons with the St. Louis Rams following his nine seasons with the Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals."

Williams' character was again exemplified, when he showed up in St. Louis, Missouri. Aenes was there to show his support for the community that suffered in the recent riots over the shooting of Michael Brown. TMZ reported on the situation:

"...One of the best defensive players in NFL history -- is hitting the streets of Ferguson ... helping to repair the city one shattered window at a time. The Hall-of-Famer -- who's also a pastor in St. Louis -- rounded up a crew of people and is boarding up some of the windows that were smashed during the melee last night...Williams then tweeted, 'Love Never Fails! Love is an ACTION WORD! I SEE A LOT OF LOVE HERE IN FERGUSON...After all the finger pointing is done, my [question] is what are we going to do now? Answer LOVE.'"

The NFL needs more players like Williams. The league seems to lose a little more class each day. What are your opinions? Let us know in the comment section below.
