It has been officially announced that super-popular Dancing with the Stars cast member, Derek Hough won't be appearing on the TV show in 2015. According to the latest gossip news updates, the former champion will be staring in the New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall instead of doing his best to teach some tired B-list celebrity how to foxtrot. One might think that it would be Kate Hudson, who Derek is said to be dating since her split to Matt Belamy was announced, to be celebrating the news with Hough while he is in New York this week, but word has it that the Instagram nice guy has been seen flirting up a storm with Hangover 2 actress, Jamie Chung -- with Kate nowhere in sight. Dereck may be looking to move up in the world but, Val Chmerkovskiy, recently revealed that he already felt like a "rock star" when competing live on national television.
Since Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Julianne Hough retired from competing on Dancing with the Stars, Dereck Hough, has held the non-official title of most popular dancer, but that is all about to change in the upcoming season.
While, Derek is definitely going to be sitting 2015 out to focus on his Radio City Music Hall performance later in the year, executive producer Rob Wade was quick to explain to E! News that Hough wasn't quitting the show for good:
"Well, he's not leaving. He's sitting out a season.
"And it's amazing that we started this show, 10 years ago, I think Derek started in season two or three and now he got an opportunity to be on Broadway."
According to the Daily Mail, Derek has been celebrating the announcement of the Dancing with the Stars news while in New York by getting handsy with his latest dancing partner -- not Kate Hudson:
"The 29-year-old star was being a little flirty as he and [Jamie Chung] showed off their moves at the David Barton Gym."
While Derek Hough clearly seems to view his time on Dancing with the Stars as a stepping stone to all the fame and fortune of his wildest dreams, Val Chmerkovskiy revealed that working on the show is his dream.
During a recent interview to promote the show and his dancing tour, Val told Clevaland.com he already looked at his position on Stars to be the pentacle of success in his profession:
"When I grew up, it was very taboo for young men to dance, but my parents and I stuck with it -- and now look at me, I'm a rock star!"
That would explain how Derek Hough got to be Kate Hudson's only boyfriend that didn't have a band.
