Björk to Play Carnegie Hall and City Center After Release of New Album 'Vulnicura,' Includes Diss Track to Ex Matthew Barney

Björk fans rejoice! The Icelandic singer is returning to New York after an early release of her 2015 album Vulnicura, performing at Carnegie Hall and City Center. Her new album, which has been widely praised, has also stirred up talk for including a 10-minute diss track Björk directed at ex Matthew Barney.

Björk's New York stint includes six intimate shows -- two at Carnegie Hall and four at City Center -- but it seems as if she is determined to make the most of her trip. In March, we will the see the opening of her MoMa retrospective, which will be an exhibition of her costumes, instruments and video collaborations. She has donated her Biophilia app to the collection, which was one of the first examples of music being released through an app.

Vulnicura, which was meant to coincide with the MoMa release, was leaked and released two months earlier than expected. The album focuses on the dissolution of the singer's longtime relationship with now-ex-boyfriend Matthew Barney.

"Black Lake" is the fourth song on the album and tears into the multimedia artist with lines such as “I did it for love / honored my feelings / you betrayed your own heart / corrupted that organ. / Family was always our sacred mutual mission / which you abandoned” and “You have nothing to give, / your heart is hollow.”

In an interview with Pitchfork, Björk states that she is still embarrassed about the song and can hardly listen to it. Fortunately for her, no one else has any trouble, as they are lapping up the new album, which took the singer years to produce.

Tickets for Björk's New York shows, which are in March and April, have just gone on sale. The singer is also going to be headlining the Governor’s Ball, which will be from June 5 to 7.
