Anna Netrebko Announces Performance of 'Iolanta' at Royal Albert Hall Outing June 24

Opera's beloved darling, Anna Netrebko, is proud to announce an added gig at the world famous Royal Albert Hall. In association with the venue and U-Live, the special Iolanta performance is scheduled for June 24.

Netrebko, "the grande dame of bel canto," is recognized as one of the most astounding voices in opera, sure, but now her talents will be open to witness at one of the greatest venues in the world: Royal Albert Hall.

If you're in the know, then you know Ms. Netrebko is no stranger to interpreting Tchaikovsky's Iolanta, having performed the role in 2009 in her native city of St. Petersburg.

Opening the 2014-15 season, Anna sang Iolanta at the Metropolitan Opera and in January was featured by Deutsche Grammophon in a record release of the performance. The disc, naturally, receieved critical acclaim.

Iolanta, Op. 69, is a one-act lyric opera by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky that received its premiere on 18 December 1892 in St. Petersburg, Netrebko's hometown. It tells the story of a blind princess whose deeply protective father, King René, has kept her oblivious to her lack of sight and her royal status.

But this fantasy world is about to be unveiled by the unforeseen arrival of Count Vaudémont, whose love for Iolanta does much more than bring to life new emotions in the young princess.

Tickets are available here or U-Live.

Until then, catch up with Ms. Netrebko below.
