The Silver Lake Chorus Release Album of Originals From Top Indie Rock Talents

The Silver Lake Chorus must feel like they are the coolest kids on the block nowadays. With the band set to release their new self-titled album June 16, the general public is going to find out what many top indie rock stars had already figured out. Album producer Ben Lee assembled the talents of other big name musician friends who enjoyed The Silver Lake Chorus to compose original tunes for the band to record.

It's not just the amount of artists that signed up to write originals for The Chorus, but the level of talent involved in this project that make this release so anticipated. The Wall Street Journal has a peak at what to expect from the new album:

"Featuring songs written by Sia, Aimee Mann, members of the Flaming Lips, Tegan & Sara and Bon Iver leader Justin Vernon, among others, "The Silver Lake Chorus" pairs minimal instrumental accompaniment with a rich mix of 26 male and female voices arranged by music director Michael B. Wells and soprano Heather Ogilvy."

The Chorus is especially proud of the work they have done with the Flaming Lips penned song. They told Consequence of Sound about the feeling they got from the Lips music and how they were able to complete the vision of the track:

"The track The Flaming Lips sent us had a really specific and transformative feel to it. They used a myriad of synths that made it feel vast and kind of trippy. When we arranged the song for the chorus, we took a chamber music approach instrument-wise while still shooting for that vast/trippy vibe. The Flaming Lips create such rich and intriguing sound worlds, and we were thrilled to take their lead and then make it our own."

What do you think of the new album from The Silver Lake Chorus? Will the album get more attention from being written by such big stars? We want to hear from you. Tell us your thoughts below.
