Rent star Taye Diggs is getting ready to Broadway by storm as the titular character in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Diggs is making his long awaited return to the Broadway stage, taking over for Darren Criss in July. Recently, the very first picture of Diggs in makeup were released. Feast your eyes on this!
Recently, Diggs spoke with People about the role and his new found love for nail polish:
"Hedwig is the role of a lifetime. I'm looking forward to being challenged performance-wise on many levels, as well as being humbled by the musical's social implications. I also like wearing nail polish."
Diggs is the sixth actor to take on the role for the Broadway stage. Neil Patrick Harris started the revival, earning himself a Tony statue. Book of Mormon and Girls star Andrew Rannells later replaced Harris, followed by Dexter’s Michael C. Hall, and original Hedwig star and co-writer John Cameron Mitchell. Glee’s Darren Criss is currently starring in the role.
Taye Diggs will take over for Criss on July 22.
