Could we see one of the newest members of the Avengers be a traitor by the end of Captain America: Civil War? What repercussion could this hold for the team moving ahead into Avengers: Infinity War?
There is no denying that now that we have officially finished with Marvel's Phase 2, that things will begin to change for us moving through Phase 3. The pinnacle of Phase 3 will be the two-part film Avengers: Infinity War. Is there enough time for Marvel to have any of their newer characters do anything before the events of Avengers 3?
A rumor has surfaced via That Hashtag Show that gives us a little bit of information regarding The Vision's role in Captain America: Civil War. We know that The Vision will be on Tony Stark's team in the film, but according to an inside source, he will be on Stark's team but will not be staying there for long. He will be in direct opposition to Tony for most of the film, and will eventually crossover to Cap's team.
We also find out that the Vision will be in a relationship with Wanda (The Scarlet Witch) in the film. This is something that was hinted at when The Vision saves Wanda at the end of Age of Ultron. It is also being said that due to the events of the film, The Vision will leave the Earth at the end of the movie. This is something that we assume The Hulk did after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron. This could be a key event happening, because in order for Thanos to get the mind gem for the Infinity Gauntlet, he would have to take it from The Vision. Putting The Vision in space would help to get the gem closer to Thanos.
This also brings up a few more interesting thoughts. Does this mean that we could see The Vision show up in on of Marvel's upcoming cosmic universe films like Thor: Ragnarok or Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2? We do see in Thor's visions from Avengers: Age of Ultron, that they focused on the Mind Gem. This was a subtle hint at the time, but if these rumors come true, then the Mind Gem could be a big focus of Phase 3.
