The (Friday, Dec 18) all new Powerball Lottery total has reached a whopping $85 million with an estimated cash value option of $52 million.
Just because there was no big money winner for this week’s game, it doesn’t mean that it was a total busy. One lucky winner brought home a massive $5 million, just in time for the holidays as the official Mega Millions lottery website reports:
“A lucky ticket holder in Illinois just won an extra special Christmas present! One Mega Millions ticket sold in the state matched the five white balls drawn on Tuesday night, December 15 – 18, 25, 47, 51 and 61 – to win the second-tier prize in the Mega Millions drawing. Normally worth $1 million, the ticket purchase included the optional Megaplier for an extra $1. With the 5x Megaplier for the drawing, the ticket is worth $5 million.
“Fifteen times this year a Match 5 winning ticket has included the Megaplier – nine of them resulting in $5 million prizes. Other $5 million prizes have been won this year in Arizona, Florida (2), Michigan, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia.
“The Match 5 winning ticket just missed winning the estimated $74 million jackpot, missing only the gold Mega Ball of 5. The jackpot rolls to an estimated $85 million ($52 million cash option) for the next drawing on December 18.”
