Tim Curry Joins Laverne Cox ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’

Forget about Susan Sarandon and Meat Loaf; it's just been announced that Fox has successfully talked Hollywood legend Tim Curry into joining their TV remake of 70s cult classic, Rocky Horror Picture Show. According to the latest gossip news updates, the original Dr. Frank-N-Furter will be trading in the thigh-stockings and stiletto heels for an unseen role as the Criminologist Narrator. Orange is the New Black star, Laverne Cox, who is set to play the sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania, revealed that she cried tears of joy upon learning that the network has signed Curry up for the remake.

It would have been downright criminal to stage a remake of Rocky Horrow Picture Show without the indomitable Tim Curry taking an active part in one way or another, so perhaps it is fitting that the Tony Award-winning actor will be taking on the role of Criminologist Narrator in Fox' latest television remake.

According to Deadline, its's been confirmed that the 69-year-old star of stage and screen has agreed to lend his name and his voice to the show, although there is still no word as to whether or not any other members of the original cast will be joining the production:

"The Rocky Horror Picture Show sweethearts Janet Weiss (Victoria Justice) and Brad Majors (Ryan McCartan), who stumble upon the bizarre abode of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Laverne Cox), a sexually ambiguous, flirtatious alien mad scientist.

"He is holding an annual Transylvanian science convention to showcase the birth of "Rocky Horror" -- a fit, attractive man (Staz Nair) created solely to fulfill Frank's desires."

For her part, the new Frank-N-Furter, Laverne Cox, revealed in a recent interview with Zap2It that she literally cried tears of joy at the news that Curry had agreed to join the show:

"I knew they were interested in bringing him on, potentially as narrator, but I didn't know if it would happen or not. I just cried when I found out.

"When I fell in love with Rocky Horror Picture Show in college, it was Tim Curry's portrayal of Dr. Frank-N-Furter that was so moving for me...Honestly, I just want to sit with him and talk and be in the same room with him."

If you could see just one other member of the original Rocky Horror cast return for Fox' remake, who would it be?

Would a cameo by Susan Sarandon put the new production over the top?

Or, would you rather see the first Rocky Horror, Peter Hinwood, pop in for a bit of the Time Warp, instead?

Let us hear who you would pick and why in the comment field below.
