Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton on NFL Big Game Pressure: 'I Don't Get Nervous'

The Carolina Panthers are set to take on the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship game and quarterback Cam Newton will have the pressure of the big game on his shoulders. He made it clear when asked about the pressure that he doesn't get nervous no matter how big the game is.

Newton is likely going to be named the NFL MVP after the impressive regular season that he had and rightfully so. He is also receiving the reputation of being a fairly arrogant player as well. That isn't where he'd like to be ideally, but he isn't going to stop being himself just because others don't like it.

During a recent interview, Newton talked about the pressure of big games and how it doesn't get to him.

"I don't get nervous," Newton said. "I've been playing football for too long for me to get nervous. I used to dream of being in this type of position."

There is no question that a quarterback cannot afford to let a big game make him nervous. The second that happens, is the second that a quarterback loses control of his team.

He has been solid all season long and has not folded under the enormous pressure that has faced him. Newton has been scrutinized all season long and it hasn't forced him to change anything about his game. That is the type of person that can play through the pressure off playing for a chance to represent a conference in the Super Bowl.

Throughout the course of the 2015 NFL season, Newton put up big numbers across the board. He completed 59.8 percent of his pass attempts for 3,837 yards, 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Newton also used his ability to make an impact with his legs with 636 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Carolina will need a coplete team effort in order to knock off the Cardinals and get into Super Bowl 50.

Expect to see Newton come out with a strong game and do everything in his ability to get the job done and defend the Panthers' home field.
