Weather Forces Baltimore Symphony Orchestra To Close After 2016 Blizzard Shuts Down Broadway

Over the weekend the massive blizzard of 2016 took its toll on the north, shutting down Broadway. Now The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra is also suffering because of the weather. The BSO is postponing Monday, Jan 25 Musical Monday concert.

The BSO website is reporting on the postponement of tonight’s entertainment, writing:

“The Musical Monday concert for BSO at Strathmore donors on Monday, January 25 at 7:30 pm has been postponed due to inclement weather. When the event is rescheduled, donors will be notified by email.

‘“The JMSH Private Hall Tour for Meyerhoff Britten members and higher on Monday, January 25 at 2 pm is cancelled. Donors will be contacted by email with further instructions.”

The BSO is not the only arts organization to suffer do to inclement weather. On Saturday the Broadway League announced the cancellation of all shows due to extreme snow (via Broadway World):

"As a result of the ban on travel in New York and suspension of public transportation by government authorities and additional safety precautions implemented due to severe weather, all Broadway matinee and evening performances on Saturday, January 23rd, will be cancelled. Charlotte St. Martin, President of The Broadway League, stated, 'Now that the snowstorm has arrived, I'd like to reiterate that the safety and security of theatregoers and employees is everyone's primary concern. As a result of the ban on travel in New York and the suspension of public transportation by government authorities and other safety precautions implemented on behalf of the weather, evening performances will be cancelled tonight, January 23rd. We expect normal operations to resume for tomorrow's Sunday matinees.'"
