Brevard Music Center Announces 2016 Music Festival

This year the Brevard Music Center's 2016 Summer Music Festival commemorates a historic 80th Anniversary with over eighty performances spanning a wide array of musical genres. Adding an added twist to his year's gathering is the Super Bowl based rivalry between the Brevard's Mark Weinstein and the Aspen Music Festival and School's Alan Fletcher. It would appear that the two CEO's have a friendly bet that will leave one man buying the other institution's board member's dinner depending on the outcome of the NFL championship game this Sunday night.

For eight decades the Brevard Music Center (BMC) in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina has dedicated itself to developing young musical talent through its summer arts program and accompanying festival, and this year they are going all out in celebration of the historic anniversary.

Brevard Music Center President & CEO Mark Weinstein explained that while everyone is always more than welcome to attend the festival this year more than any other the BMC would like to extend an extra-warm invitation to its alums:

"For eighty years, talented students and distinguished faculty have joined together to perform great musical works at the highest artistic level.

"This year, more than any other, we celebrate the thousands of BMC alumni-talented young men and women who have taken the stage here and around the world to raise classical music to new heights.

"I invite everyone to bring a friend and enjoy a spectacular season of symphony, opera, pops, chamber, and jazz. On the lawn, under the stars, or in an intimate hall...this is the place to witness performances as captivating as the view!"

As much as Weinstein hopes this year's festival is extra special, he would be absolutely delighted if the Carolina Panthers wound up defeating the Denver Broncos this weekend at Super Bowl 50 like he has bet Alan Fletcher they will.

With the Aspen Music Festival and School's CEO on the line to send a group photo of his Board of Trustees with Fletcher wearing a Panthers' jersey along with a Colorado salsa verde pork chili dinner for 10, Weinstein seemed to exude an almost inappropriate level of confidence when recently speaking of the wager (via Broadway World):

"I can taste that salsa verde now.

"Obviously, the Panthers will dominate the Broncos so the table is set, the beer is in the fridge, and we are waiting for the chili to arrive!

"What a great way to kick-off BMC's 80th anniversary...Either way, we're celebrating two winning seasons!"

An equally excited and self-assured Alan Fletcher made sure to thank Weisten and the BMC Board of Trustees in advance for the trophy pic and 10 heaping-helpings of North Carolina pulled pork barbecue that he was sure would be on their way come Monday morning:

"I'm grateful to Mark and everyone at Brevard for what is essentially an offer to buy us dinner."
