‘Bright Star’ Steve Martin Refuses to go on Jimmy Fallon: "I Don't Want to Do This Show"

Steve Martin is making the rounds to promote his all new Broadway musical Bright Star. There is only one problem. Martin doesn’t like talking to people. Last night during Martin was scheduled to on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon but refused at first due to his lack of anecdotes and his overall disdain for small talk. However, the funnyman eventually sung his way to the stage despite his initial reluctance. Check the video below to see Martin sing his “I Don’t Want to Do This Show,” song

As it turns out, Martin actually had plenty to talk about, including his recent stand up performance with Jerry Seinfeld:

Martin did get around to promoting the new musical as he does on the official Bright Star website:

“[Co-creator Eddie Brickell] and I wanted to create something that would resonate with all kinds of people. A genuine story with strong melodies and real emotion. I’ve been playing the banjo and writing music my entire life, and bringing Brightstar to Broadway is tremendously exciting.”

What did you think of Steve Martin’s number? Do you think his joke worked? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page.

Bright Star is currently in previews and will officially open on March 24.
Bright Star is playing at the Cort Theatre, located 138 W 48th St, New York, NY.
