Sarah Burgess’ ‘Dry Powder’ Starring John Krasinski & Claire Danes Opens Tonight Off-Broadway

Tonight is the world premiere of Sarah Burgess' Dry Powder officially opens tonight. The new Off-Broadway play is directed Hamilton director Thomas Kail and stars Claire Danes (Homeland), John Krasinski (The Office, 13 Hours), Sanjit De Silva (War Horse) and Hank Azaria (The Simpsons,Spamalot).

Production notes for Dry Powder detail the show’s plot, reading (via Playbill):

“The same week his private equity firm forced massive layoffs at a national grocery chain, Rick (Azaria) threw himself an extravagant engagement party, setting off a publicity nightmare. Fortunately, Seth (Krasinski), one of Rick’s partners, has a win-win deal to invest in an American-made luggage company for a song and rescue his boss from a PR disaster. But Jenny (Danes), Seth’s counterpart, has an entirely different plan: to squeeze every last penny out of the company, no matter the consequences."

There will be a special benefit performance scheduled during the closing week on Thursday, April 28. Tickets for the final week benefit will run between $750 to $1,000 The Public and will include an invitation to attend a party in the Ford Foundation Lobby with members of the cast and creative team after the show. Proceeds go to support The Public Theater.
