South African Tenor Innocent Masuku Amazes Britain’s Got Talent Judges, Calls Him ‘The Best Opera Singer They Ever Had’

At this point, Britain's Got Talent is now synonymous with momentous operatic performances showcasing immense one-in-a-million talents, with alumni like Paul Potts, Susan Boyle, and the recent sensation Malakai Bayoh.

Last Saturday, April 20, this reputation was only further cemented by a new addition that captured the whole nation's attention. This time, showing off unmistakable vocal prowess is a 33-year-old tenor from South Africa.

Innocent Masuku's Britain's Got Talent Performance

In front of the BGT judges, Innocent Masuku poises up gleefully with a big smile, quickly infecting both the audience and the panel with his inviting stage presence. During the interview itself, Masuku nervously laughed before winding up to sing shortly thereafter.

As soon as the first note left Masuku's mouth to meet with the sweeping orchestral intro of the Italian classic: "Caruso," everyone present in the theatre knew they were about to witness yet another operatic masterpiece of a performance.

Watch the moment yourself down below.

With every crystal-clear pronunciation of the Italian lyrics, paired with a deliberate control over his thundering operatic belting, Masuku induces the audience to roar with plaudits and even leaves a few of them slack-jawed and eyes wide open.

The awe only continued to rise as the South African tenor took on the famed chorus of the song, effortlessly nailing the high notes and key change of the track's powerful and emotional section. At this point, even the famous scowling facade of Simon Cowell had to break to let out an impressed smile.

As the dust settled, and the performance ended, cheers and ovations inundated Masuku. Of his performance, judge Amanda Holden said: "Hands down, in the 17 years that we've been doing Britain's Got Talent, you are by far the best opera singer we have ever had,"

"That was wonderful... so heartfelt and so powerful. You deserve this break. You really, really do," shared Cowell, still adorned by a smile.

Naturally, all of the four judges voted a resounding yes to Masuku's showing, giving him a chance to show out further down the line in the competition. The future is bright for the fledgling artist, and we all can't wait to see what heights his voice will take him to next.
