Marvel’s ‘Avengers 2’ and Phase 3 Update: ‘Hulk’ Solo Film Confirmed?

Marvel's Avengers 2 is on the way and that means that the studio is gearing up for Phase 3. A Hulk solo film has been confirmed...sort of.

Mark Ruffalo recently tweeted news that the script for Avengers 2 is officially finished:

"Okay. Just got the New Avengers Script. And I am going to read it now. I hope Banner/Hulk are represented. @Marvel @josswhedon. Fingers X'd"

Meanwhile, Ruffalo may be looking at a script for a solo Hulk film sometime soon. The first Hulk, Lou Ferrigno, recently told Flicks And The City, “they are doing another Hulk movie.”

Marvel’s president of production, Kevin Feige, previously spoke with MTV about the possibility of a Hulk solo film:

“I don’t think there’s a lot that we couldn’t do someday, as the cinematic universe continues to grow and expand and get as big as the comic book universe. Planet Hulk is a cool story. World War Hulk is a cool story… I think there are pitfalls of continuity-overload, and mythology getting so dense that it almost collapses in on itself. It happens every few decades or so in the comics. Apart from that, I’d say everything is on the table. Do I think Hulk can carry a movie and be as entertaining as he was in ‘Avengers’? I do believe that. I do believe he absolutely could. We certainly are not even going to attempt that until ‘Avengers 2. So there’s a lot of time to think about it.”

Meanwhile, Marvel released a brand new animated movie featureing Hulk and Iron Man. Marvel’s Jeph Loeb recently spoke with USA Today about the new film, Heros United:

"He can play smart Hulk, Bruce Hulk and angry Hulk. There's certain depth to his performance, and some of that just simply has to do with the fact that Fred himself has such a big heart, and that comes across with the Hulk. For so many years, the world saw the Hulk as a monster, and now we're really trying to make an effort to show the world that the Hulk is a hero, so that when kids are running around their own houses and they want to smash, parents aren't so frightened by that."

What do you think? Can The Hulk Carry his own film?
