Philanthropist Taylor Swift Breaks from Songs and Donates More Net Worth; Named Top Tennessean of the Year 2013 [UPDATE]

Country music diva Taylor Swift is known far and wide for her top 20 love songs and public heartbreaks, but that is beginning to change. The 24-year-old is quickly garnering the reputation of known philanthropist in Tennessee if nowhere else. The starlet has donated millions of her personal net worth to groups like, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the Nashville Symphony, in her adopted home town. Her charity work doesn't stop at just donating her time. Swift has been more than happy to work with organizations like Make-A-Wish America, to help bring joy to kids who are struggling. With all the selfless giving it is no wonder that her hometown paper has named her Tennessean of the Year in 2013.

Nashville newspaper The Tennessean hands out the award every year to “the person who has made the most exceptional contribution to the lives of Tennesseans this year.”

The award naturally went to Swift this year, who has had everyone already singing her praises in Music City.

The Mayor of Nashville, Karl Dean, recently praised the star as a shining light that could attract others to the city (via Billboard):

"She’s one of the most dynamic and popular musical performers in the world, and she's perceived as having universal appeal across categories. She transcends genres, and that's a great thing for the city."

Others like the president of the local musicians’ union, David Pomeroy, have thanked her specific acts of goodwill and charity:

“Taylor Swift has set a great example, and I hope that others will follow her lead and help ensure that the Nashville Symphony musicians’ salaries can be restored as soon as possible.”

There just is no stopping Tay Tay, and who knows why you would want to.
