The Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade is known for his superb teamwork so it’s no surprise that he looked to his personal home team for an assist, when he asked his long time love interest Gabrielle Union to marry him. The 41-year-old actress, who is currently starring in BET’s Being Mary Jane, accepted the proposal engagement from Wade, as well as his sons and nephew, who held up signs that read,”Garielle, Will You Marry Us?”.
Zaire, 11, and Zion, 6, along with their cousin Dahveon Morris, 11, stood beside the basketball star as he took to one knee with a 8.5 carat diamond ring.
Wade explained to the Associated Press that he and his sons with previous wife Siohvaughn Funches are a package deal (via Us Weekly),”We’re a package deal.”
That wasn’t the only package that Wade was concerned about. He had three separate meetings with the CEO of Jason Beverly Hills, Jason Arasheben, according to Us Weekly:
“I just wanted the rock to kind of speak for itself and not do too much with the diamonds.
Union, who took a brief break from the four year relationship last winter, was completely surprised by the spectacle. She talked about the happy day on her Twitter feed:
“I was truly caught off guard, but happy nonetheless.”
The couple seemed set for a blissful marriage in the sunset. A friend of theirs told Us Weekly that the two are meant for each other:
“She’s thrilled. They knew they were destined for this.”
That sounds beautiful.
