Jared Leto must have been drunk the other night at the Independent Spirit Awards because the Oscar nominee doesn't usually make light of dating rumors, but Leto chose to address the tabloid news that he and Lupita Nyong'o of 12 Years a Slave are an item, by jokingly referring to her as his future ex-wife at the event. Lupita also confirmed laughingly to Ellen earlier in the week that their relationship has been sidelined by Jared and Miley Cyrus' recent sleepovers.
Jared Leto thought he would crack wise about all the recent rumors that he and fellow Oscar nominated actress Luptia Nyang'o were an item, whilst making his acceptance speech at the Independent Spirit Awards earlier in the week (via Daily Mail):
"I want to thank all the women I've been with and all the women who think they've been with me.
"And also my future ex-wife, I'm talking to you Lupita Nyong'o!'"
Leto, who has no sense of humor at all, no doubt had the joke written for him as a witty response to Lupita's remarks about their relationship on Oscar host Ellen's show a few days ago.
When Ellen asked the 30-year-old Yale alum if she and Leto were dating like recent tabloids have suggested, Nyong'o told the aging television personality she was until a certain someone broke them up (via Daily Mail):
"Ah, but I thought Miley Cyrus broke us up. That was the last thing I heard,
"It's crazy, 'cause when I read these rumors, they're so detailed that even I start to question whether they're true or not.
"I know I've believed them in the past and now I guess I can't believe anything."
Well there you have it; no one is Hollywood is ever certain just who in the hell they are dating until they have it spelled out for then in print.
