Twitter Britney Spears News: Retiring After Vegas; Weight Gain Sign of Mental Illness?

Britney Spears weight is blowing up faster than Twitter, causing family and friends to worry that her mental illness might be rearing its ugly head once again. Rumor has it that the stress of starting her Vegas residency a mere two months ago has the star seriously considering retiring after she fulfills her obligation.

Everybody knows that Britney Spears it nuttier than a fruit cake, having been put on a psychiatric hold twice after her 2007 shaved head, baby driving freak out, but assume that she is doing much better now.

Well that may have been the case just a few months ago but Spears recent disheveled appearance has folks wondering if she might be off her rocker once again.

A source close to the Spears family told In Touch that Britney was looking scary enough to raise some red flags among her closest friends and family members:

"It looks like she is slipping back into her old ways.

"Her family always gets concerned when they see her looking rough and not taking care of herself."

LA-based psychiatrist Dr. Carole Lieberman told In Touch, that Spears packing on the pounds could be a very real cause for alarm:

"Gaining or losing weight, not being put-together...changes in physical appearance are all signs her problems are not being treated well.

"If she doesn't watch out, she could fall apart again."

Britney Spears has admitted that the, "dieting is tough for me," a situation no doubt exacerbated by stress eating and a mental disorder.

But one insider told In Touch that Spears wasn't losing her mind; Britney has just lost her hunger for success and maybe even show business in general:

"She isn't the driven girl that she used to be. Her favorite thing to do is hang out with her kids.

"It wouldn't surprise me if she retires as soon as her Vegas stint is over."

Let's just hope she quits before she eats herself into a diabetic coma.
