Season 5 of TNT's Rizzoli and Isles is just around the corner, and the spoilers keep coming. Last week the network released the new season’ official plot synopsis and now it has been confirmed that Jane Rizzoli is in fact pregnant. However, weather or not she is going to keep the baby is a different question.
TV Guide recently confirmed that Jane is Pregnant via their Mega Buzz Column where they quote executive producer Jan Nash as saying:
"Jane is still figuring out how to handle this. But she's definitely pregnant. We didn't want to throw that out there and not go through with it. Will she keep [the baby]? That's a different question."
The network has promised us a much darker season, that will deal with the death of the Lee Thompson Young’s character, Barry Frost, as reported in the official show synopsis:
“In season five, Jane and Maura will investigate more complex and dangerous cases than ever before, including the murder of a jogging mother that leads to the search for her missing baby, the pursuit of a killer who uses online ads to lure in the perfect candidate for murder, and the investigation of a man killed in his supposedly impenetrable doomsday shelter. The team will also deal with the loss of a dear friend and colleague as they say goodbye to Detective Barry Frost (Lee Thompson Young).”
Last year Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life. It was later revealed Young had been struggling with mental illness issues.
After his death, TNT released a statement, writing:
"We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. He was truly a member of our family. Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him, both on- and offscreen, for his positive energy, infectious smile and soulful grace. We send our deepest condolences and thoughts to his family, to his friends and, most especially, to his beloved mother.”
Season 5 of Rizzoli and Isles premieres this Tuesday night on TNT.
