Bucks Center Larry Sanders Picks Books Over Brawling These Days After Nightclub Beat Down
Milwaukee Bucks center Larry Sanders is inclined to pick books over brawling these days after a nightclub beat down last year. Sanders reportedly got into it with a man in a Wisconsin bar last November which resulted in some smashed bottles and the other guy needing stitches. Apparently he's over all that now, preferring to spend his time with a good book instead. He's also mentoring some of the young bucks, big brother-style.
Folks are wondering if Sanders is calming down a bit from last year when he got into a bar-room brawl with a Wisconsin man over some spilled champagne (via TMZ):
"Larry is clearly a spiritual, thoughtful, intelligent guy ... who says he'd even consider running a book club a la Oprah Winfrey one day. So, it's hard to believe it's the same guy who was involved in a crazy bottle-throwing melee in Milwaukee last year.
"Sanders was never arrested or charged with a crime for the fight -- but the video will definitely make you think twice the next time you think about picking on a book nerd."
In addition to beefing up his book shelf, Sanders has taken to mentoring second year phenom Giannis Antetokounpo, taking the 19-year old Greek small forward (via CBS Sports):
"'He's the kid. He's our kid. He's our little baby brother. Oh, yeah [laughs]. He's still sheltered from some stuff. But me, I just try to stay in his ear. I just try to stay around him, stay with positive words because he's pretty hard on himself. I think he's his biggest critic, which is good, but I don't want him to get too hard on himself when he makes a mistake because he's still young.'"
Since Sanders loves to fight so much, we wonder if he's been reading a lot of Hemingway.
