'Lion King' On Broadway Extended Its Booking Period Through To November 17

Broadway production of Walt Disney's 'Lion King' extended its booking to November 17, 2013.

'Lion King' opened at the New Amsterdam Theatre in 1997 and in 2006 the musical moved to the Minskoff Theatre. Now, 'Lion King' became fifth longest running show in Broadway history and entered its 16th year.

The musical tells the adventurous story of its main character, a young lion Simba as he struggles with the past, however is destined to become a king.

Musical was directed by Julie Taymor, who became the first woman in Broadway history to win the Tony Award for Best Director of a Musical.  

6-time Tony Awards winning musical 'Lion King' features music by Elton John, lyrics by Tim Rice, with additional music by Hans Zimmer, Lebo M, Mark Mancina, and Jay Rifkin.
