The American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME) is coming to Saint Vitus Bar in Greenpoint, Brooklyn for a night of avant-garde music alongside black metal bands Krallice and Yellow Eyes. The string trios will be opening the night with selections from composer Giacinto Scelsi and Kralice guitarist and composer Mick Barr later this month at the Brooklyn venue.

In 2012 Consequence of Sound reported on ACME’s premiere of Mick Barr’s string trio, writing:

“The trio coaxed meaningful phrases out of Barr’s constant barrage of sound, creating arches and grand sweeps of melody. Barr arranges his music into juxtaposed blocks of sound, each stuck in its own melodic and harmonic vortex like some kind of death metal Stravinsky. Yet the ACME players brought out the formal cohesion and line that connected each section, occasionally lapsing into languid tones before restarting the rhythmic juggernaut.”

Be sure to check out the American Contemporary Music Ensemble Play String Trios by Giacinto Scelsi & Mick Barr, with Krallice & Yellow Eyes on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 8pm at Saint Vitus Bar. Located at 1120 Manhattan Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.

Tickets for the event cost $12 at can be purchased at www.saintvitusbar.com. Must be 21 and over for admittance.
