‘SNL’ Weekend Update Host Colin Jost Jokes About ‘Walking Dead Zombie Cat’ After ‘Miracle’ Resurrection

One of the strangest news stories of the week was the story of Bart the “Walking Dead Zombie Cat” who rose from the grave after being buried alive. Bart, who is also known as “The Miracle Cat” is currently being treated for various injuries, including a broken jaw, and the loss of an eye, by emergency vets in Tampa Bay. Now this story has made its way to the Saturday Night Live Weekend Update desk, where fake news host Colin Jost made jokes about the headline.

Bart the “Miracle Cat” managed to claw his way out of his grave after being buried alive. Bart made his way back to his owner despite very serious injuries.

Of course this headline grabbing story made its way to Saturday Night Live, but not much more than the headline. The story was featured during the fake news segment, Weekend Update, where co-host Colin Jost jested:

“A cat who was buried by its owner after it was hit by a car, dug its way out of its grave and returned to its owner, five days late. That story again. A lady found a cat that looked like her old cat.”

Needles to say that SNL’s fake news program got some of the facts wrong, being a fake news segment on a comedy show afterall.

In reality Bart’s story is very real. Bart suffered some very serious injuries and is being treated by the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, and Tampa Bay Emergency Vets.

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay has been providing updates on Bart’s condition via Facebook.

Bart had to receive a blood transfusion. Luckily an adoptable cat, Draco, was a perfect match.
