Derek Jeter Doesn't Miss Yankees; Trying Out Golf Instead

Derek Jeter retired from Major League Baseball and the New York Yankees this past season with a yearlong sendoff of gifts and well wishes. Since the retirement of the former Yankees captain, he has been keeping busy with trying out a new sport, golf. Jeter will always be loyal to his former team, but with his concentrations on conquering a new sport, the Yankee legend has mentioned that he hasn't paid much attention to this year's club and that he doesn't even miss the game either.

The challenge of succeeding in this new sport for Jeter looks to be tough, with having to overcome the differences of swings between a baseball bat and a golf club. To help with his transition from ball player to golfer, he hired well-renowned golf coach David Leadbetter. Leadbetter explained in his own article for The Players Tribune how he believes Jeter's work ethic can make him become a better golfer:

"He's very disciplined and he's willing to put in the work. You can see why he's been so successful in baseball. But in golf, the success of your shot is determined largely by preparation and form."

With all of his interest now in golf, Yankee fans may be wondering when the next time they might see their captain around New York again. The New York Daily News tells of the interview Jeter gave SiriusXM on his thoughts about retirement and the current Yankee season:

"To be honest with you, I don't miss it at all. It was the right time for me. I'm content with what I'm doing now. I miss my teammates. You play with guys a long time, but I keep in touch with a few of them. I do not miss the long hours, the working out. It's a full-time job. I'm glad that I've moved on."

But Yankees fans shouldn't be worried about not seeing Jeter again with those statements, because he also added:

"They're retiring a lot of my former teammates' numbers this year and I'm pretty sure I'll be up there for the festivities."

Do you think Jeter can become a good golfer? What will the reception be like when Jeter returns to New York? Tell us what you think.
