"Bahubali' actor Rana Daggubati Says Strong Story Gave Film Resonance

SS Rajamouli's summer hit Bahubali fought tooth and nail with Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan for box office supremacy and ended up with some box office records of its own. Lead actor Rana Daggubati attributes that success to a well written story. The actor whose stock has risen dramatically in the past few months feels that the film's strong story gave the film a resonance that carried it to the box office success it is enjoying.

Says Daggubati about Bahubali, via Times of India ""By becoming such a huge hit across the country,Bahubali proved that a strong story can travel places. I am optimistic that the sequel will resonate more with the audience and open several avenues when it releases next year. Ultimately, it's the emotions in the story that connect; the relations and the conflicts are similar in any language."

The actor also wants to do break out of the regionalism that has for so long plagued Indian cinema as a whole for so long. Daggubati has taken the bull by the horns and began producing films as well as continuing his acting. From the same article,Daggubati noted, "Today, a filmmaker sitting in Mumbai can make a film in Madurai. In India, we have five big film industries and together they make the biggest movie industry in the world. That's our strength. We have access to different kinds of cinema. If we have a great story, we can take it across to a wider audience."

For the makers of Bahubali, the film was a statement of intent from the south to its bigger and more powerful brother, Bollywood, in the north. A Hindi version was dubbed it did well. So much so, the filmmakers didn't feel the need to sell the rights to Bollywood for a remake. However, he is looking forward, for there is a lot on his plate in the months to come. This via Times of India "We wanted to shoot both parts in one go but I injured my knee. Then, Prabhas had to undergo a shoulder surgery. We lost around three-four months and since this was delaying the release of Part 1, we stopped work on the sequel. We have two-three big action blocks left to shoot and will start on the balance between October 10-15. We hope to wrap it up fast,."
