Stephen Colbert Helps Samuel L. Jackson Claim new Catch Phrases From Famous Movies [WATCH]

In a recent episode of The Late Show, Stephen Colbert helps Samuel L. Jackson claim new catch phrases from famous movies like The Wizard of Oz and The Lion King by giving them his own unforgettable twist. The legendary Pulp Fiction actor was on the show to promote Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight which is now playing in theaters.

Before enticing Jackson into making the catch phrases forever his, Colbert explains "The thing about Sam Jackson is that he can make anything his own." And it's true. Once you see Jackson quote an already famous catch phrase in a movie, you suddenly hear his voice in your head every time you think about those words.

For example, in Pulp Fiction, Jackson plays Jules Winnfield, a cold-blooded gangster-style hitman who works for a man name Marsellus Wallace. Before each of his executions, he inspires fear in his victims by quoting Ezekiel 25:17, which is a relatively well known Bible verse: "And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you." Assuming you have seen Pulp Fiction, you almost certainly read that verse in the voice of Samuel L. Jackson.

Now, Stephen Colbert has given us a new gift of catch phrases that Sam Jackson can clam as his own. And so, when you think of, "Hakuna Matata," from The Lion King it is no longer Pumba's voice you will hear, but instead the smooth tones of Samuel L. Jackson. The same applies to, the catch phrase "Lions and tigers and bears, Oh my!," made famous by The Wizard of Oz.

I don't know about you, but I suddenly really want to see a remake of Gone With the Wind starring Samuel L. Jackson as Rhett Butler, because his version of, "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn," was one of the best I have ever heard.

Samuel L.'s ability to take something iconic and claim it as his own, does not stop with catch phrases. He even made Star Wars his own with a one of a kind purple lightsaber which Jackson sported as Mace Windu in Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones.

Screen Crush reports that during an interview on The Graham Norton Show, Jackson explained the origins of the purple lightsaber, "We had this big arena, this fight scene with all these Jedi and they're fightin' or whatever. And I was like, well shit, I wanna be able to find myself in this big ol' scene. So I said to George, "You think maybe I can get a purple lightsaber?"" Lucas was hesitant to start with, but in the end, you can't really say no to an icon like Samuel L. Jackson.
