Dallas Cowboys Could Consider Signing RB Chris Ivory in 2016 NFL Free Agency

Chris Ivory is set to hit the 2016 NFL free agency market and the Dallas Cowboys could consider signing the running back. It would be a good fit and would provide the Cowboys with even more playmaking potential in their backfield.

Darren McFadden ended the 2015 season as the Cowboys' starting running back and he did a very good job. He replaced Joseph Randle early on in the season, but McFadden simply isn't the right fit as an every week starter. Adding Ivory would give the Cowboys to very solid running backs if they do end up bringing McFadden back, who could work well off of each other in a dual-back type of system.

Throughout the 2015 season with the Jets, Ivory was one of the league's best running backs. He ended up carrying the football 247 times for 1,070 yards and seven touchdowns.

Jerry Jones is always open to making big moves that will improve his team, which signing Ivory would do.

At 27 years old, Ivory is likely heading into the final big contract of his career. He positioned himself nicely to get a pay raise and the Cowboys would have to open up their wallet a bit to bring him on board. If they are willing to pay the price tag, however, he could be exactly what their offense needs to get back on track in 2016.

Tony Romo and Dez Bryant will be back to full health next season and adding a motivated Ivory would make them even more dangerous. Jason Garrett would likely love to have a piece like Ivory to work with.

Putting Ivory behind the dominant offensive line that the Cowboys have would make his job much easier. He had to work extremely hard with the Jets to get his yards, but things would be easier for him in Dallas. That would be a draw in and of itself for a running back like Ivory.

Dallas will have plenty of money to spend this offseason if they choose to use it on a piece like Ivory.

Expect to hear interest from many different teams on Ivory this coming offseason. He is one of the best free agents at his position and will receive a very favorable contract. Don't be surprised if the Cowboys are one of the teams that are the most aggressive in contract talks with him.
