Eddie Lacy: Grading the Green Bay Packers Running Back's 2015 NFL Season

Eddie Lacy and the Green Bay Packers ended their season in the NFC divisional round of the NFL playoffs. That being said, grading the Packers' running back's 2015 NFL season is a very difficult task.

It was obvious throughout the season that Lacy was carrying a lot of extra weight on him. Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy said that he wants Lacy to lose weight following the season. Another report states that Lacy is looking to lose around 30 pounds to get back in shape for next season.

Throughout the course of the 2015 season, Lacy ended up carrying the football 187 times for 758 yards and three touchdowns.

At 25 years of age, Lacy still has plenty of time to turn his career back around. He is also on a team that will help him grow as a player and get his career back on track. Green Bay has the best quarterback in the league on their side, which will continue taking pressure off of Lacy and the ground game.

While the future should be better for Lacy, that is not what this article is about. Looking back on his 2015 season is without question a very disappointing thing to do.

Lacy came up way short of the expectations that the media had set for him comign into the year. His weight issues are a major concern and it showed a sad side of his work ethic or lack thereof. There is always a chance that the Packers' running back won't get his work ethic turned around, which would lead to a complete failure of a career in the next couple of years.

Another former Alabama running back that saw their career go down the drain due to weight issues was Trent Richardson. He had a huge rookie season with the Cleveland Browns and his next two seasons were an absolute disaster with the Indianapolis Colts.

Green Bay cannot afford to trust that Lacy will get everything figured out throughout this offseason.

All of that being said, his grade is obviously not going to be good. His struggles, inconsistency and weight problems all add up to a very rough year.
