“What good is sitting alone in your room? Come hear the music play!” That is right. Broadway and film icon, Liza Minnelli has just turned 70 years old today (March 12). The daughter of the legendary Judy Garland and Vincente Minnelli, Liza made a name for herself winning One Oscar, two Tonys, One Emmy and one Legendary Grammy award. Liza’s many awards puts her in rare company of other E.G.O.T. (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) winners.
There is no doubt about, Liza Minnelli is a household name. The iconic actress/singer has risen out of the shadow of her famous parents and has shined bright on her own. So there is no doubt that people all over are wishing Liza a very happy 70th birthday today. People is quoting Liza herself as saying:
"I like to think of celebrating my birthday as celebrating my Minnellium."
Minnelli isn’t too hung on her birthday, as she told The New York Post's Page Six:
“I forgot my birthday is even coming up, which works if I want to stay younger. I think I’ll keep it that way.”
Seth Sikes will be honoring Liza tonight at Feinstein’s/54 Below with the special sold out concert event Seth Sikes Sings Liza Minnelli.
Sikes recently spoke to Playbill about the concert, saying:
“I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate our greatest living legend’s birthday, through her incredible music. I’ll be singing some of Liza’s signature tunes along with some little known gems.”
